Care focused on trust, clarity, and long-term results

At Bounds Periodontics + Dental Implants, our focus is simple: treat periodontal conditions thoroughly, restore stability, and help patients maintain their oral health for years to come.

As a specialty practice, we concentrate exclusively on bone and gum tissue—the support structures of the teeth—working closely with general dentists to deliver coordinated, high-quality care.

We understand that many patients arrive feeling unsure or even anxious, especially if they don’t fully understand why they’ve been referred. Our role is to provide clarity, education, and thoughtful treatment recommendations based on what is clinically right for your individual needs, not what insurance dictates. When we do what’s best for the patient, everything else falls into place.

Three Generations. One Commitment to Dentistry

For the Bounds family, dentistry is more than a profession. It is a legacy spanning three generations and built on education, service, and a commitment to caring for patients with integrity.

The First Generation

Donald B. Bounds, DDS

His decision to pursue dentistry would ultimately influence generations to come, establishing a family tradition centered on clinical excellence, lifelong learning, and caring for others.

The Second Generation

Steven J. Bounds DDS, M.S.

Years later, Dr. Donald Bounds would proudly watch his son, Dr. Steven Bounds graduate fromCreighton University School of Dentistry. One photograph from that day captures something no one could fully appreciate at the time: three generations of the Bounds family dentistry legacy together. Following dental school, Dr. Steven Bounds pursued specialty training in periodontics at The Ohio State University, beginning a career that would eventually lead him to build a periodontal practice centered on the same principles passed down by his father.

The Third Generation

Michael S. Bounds, dental student

Michael Bounds is enrolled at Western University of Health Sciences College of Dental Medicine, pursuing the profession that has been part of his family for three generations.

His goal is to follow in his father’s footsteps by pursuing a periodontal residency training after dental school.

A Legacy Still Being Written

Three generations, Three dental educations. One family commitment to the profession

Your California board-certified periodontist

Steven Bounds, DDS, MS

Dr. Steven Bounds has dedicated more than 26 years to the specialty of periodontology and implant surgery. Raised in Southern California, he grew up in a dental family, (his father practiced general dentistry for over 35 years). That early exposure shaped his commitment to patient-centered care and long-term treatment planning.

Dr. Bounds earned his Bachelor of Science degree from Arizona State University before attending Creighton University School of Dentistry, where he received his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree. He then completed his Certificate of Specialization in Periodontology and a Master of Science in Oral Biology at The Ohio State University. His advanced education allows him to approach periodontal disease and implant therapy with both scientific depth and surgical precision.

Throughout his career, Dr. Bounds has published in respected journals including the American Journal of Dentistry and Antimicrobial Agents and Chemotherapeutics. He is a member of the ADA, AAP, CDA, CSP, OCDS, and AO, and has served as the leader of multiple study clubs over the last two decades, reflecting his ongoing commitment to education and collaboration.

Patients often describe Dr. Bounds as calm, thorough, and fully attentive during their visits. His philosophy is grounded in integrity: recommend the treatment that will truly resolve the condition and create a stable, maintainable outcome, not a short-term solution. As a fee-for-service specialist, he is able to design treatment plans based on long-term oral health rather than insurance limitations

Outside of the office, Dr. Bounds enjoys spending time with family and friends, traveling, and golfing.
